The gardens at RHS Wisley are one of 5 gardens run by the RHS and the second most visited paid entry garden in the UK after the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. We recently completed a bespoke Broadwalk Curved seat for RHS Wisley, replacing the original seat which had called RHS Wisley its home for 24 years.
Named after the broadwalk section of the gardens at RHS Wisley in which it was set. The new seat replaces the original Broadwalk Seat commissioned 26 years ago as a bespoke piece for the Broadwalk Garden at RHS Wisley. The original design was a successful collaboration between Gaze Burvill and artist designer Tim Royall, which combined our unique steam-bending capability with a timeless contemporary style, and was the foundation on which our iconic Broadwalk Collection was based.
Measuring 7.8 metres in length and featuring three concave and one convex seat, the design for the new bespoke seat was based on the original design, including a custom height. Some minor design tweaks were made based on learnings from the past 24 years. Adjustable feet were added to ensure that the seat could always be level on uneven surfaces, there were also improvements made to the joining and the addition of armrests spaced across the seat for more practical and comfortable experience.
