Woodland Seat Awarded Design Guild Mark

We are pleased to announce that the Woodland Seat has been awarded a Furniture Design Guild Mark by The Furniture Makers’ Company. Judged by an independent panel of design experts, the Woodland Seat was successfully evaluated against a set of criteria in which it must demonstrate excellence in design, materials, manufacture and function.

Originally commissioned by the RHS for the woodlands at RHS Wisley in 2016, the seat combined traditional steam bending with the precision of CNC machining to create unique twisting ‘branches’ of the seat inspired by the trunk of a sweet chestnut tree. Embodying the powerful blend of modern design technology and traditional craftsmanship, the Woodland seat is an undeniably contemporary craftsman-made take on the natural forms of the woodland.
