How long have you been with Gaze Burvill?

I joined the company in January 2016.

What is your role at Gaze Burvill?

I head up the Design and R&D team; creating visually beautiful furniture which is provides comfort with minimal impact to the natural world.

What is the best thing about working at Gaze Burvill?

Variation and the people. I love how design covers so many aspects of our company – from signage at an event, 3D scanning a tree for a bespoke seat to pricing a new design for our collection. Most of which involve working with talented people in house and externally.

What would you say is the hardest thing about your job?

The pinch points of the summer months. By nature we are a seasonal business and have to make the most of the British summer, so I have to work extra hard and long hours to ensure this happens. That’s not to say I hibernate in the winter… that’s for product R&D, new designs and planning of the much larger bespoke outdoor furniture projects ready for spring.

What is your most memorable moment since joining?

Witnessing a beautiful custom Splash L-shaped seat craned 30 floors up onto a Chelsea roof terrace in December 2016.

What makes you proud to work here?

I am proud of many things since joining in 2016, but I guess the most unique is a fitted lounge seat within a sunken fire pit next to Lake Geneva. Any excuse for some travel.

What is your favourite piece of furniture?

Splash Short Sofa. For me it embodies everything we do well – timeless design aesthetics, comfort and technical craftsmanship.

What are your inheritance tracks?

Here Comes The Sun – The Beatles
