David Harber & Gaze Burvill Collaborate For RHS Chatsworth Flower Show : Curves & Cube
Drawing on both the formality of Chatsworth House and the vast expanse of natural beauty it resides in, the installation of Curves and Cube has powerful echoes of nature dominating manmade structures. The whole design is a commentary of both artist's recognition of natures irresistible force meeting man's immovable object.
The deconstructed statement Cube is an organic lattice of steel made with geometric precision, with a height that draws the eye ever upwards. The curved seating echoes the snaking river of the site with freshly cut oak, progressing to the silver patina created by weathering and finally, a blackened section brought on by scorching.
